SCHOOL POLICIES
What is a School Wellbeing Policy?
Why is a Wellbeing Policy Important?
Mental Health Awareness: With rising concerns over adolescent mental health, particularly anxiety and depression, a clear wellbeing policy helps schools take proactive steps in addressing these issues. By recognizing the importance of mental health, schools create a space where students feel safe seeking support when they need it.
Promoting Positive Relationships: A school wellbeing policy often emphasizes the importance of healthy relationships—both between students and staff and among peers. Positive relationships are integral to a student’s sense of belonging, and they can help prevent issues like bullying, exclusion, and loneliness.
Supporting Academic Success: When students’ mental health and emotional wellbeing are prioritized, they are better equipped to engage with learning. Studies have shown that students who feel supported and cared for are more likely to perform well academically.
Creating an Inclusive Environment: A strong wellbeing policy addresses the diversity of employees and students’ needs, ensuring that every individual feels respected, valued, and supported. This inclusivity contributes to a positive school culture where differences are celebrated rather than marginalized.

ANTI-BULLYING POLICY
The Philippine Global School, in collaboration with its Behavior Management Team (BMT), enforces an anti-bullying policy aimed at fostering a safe and supportive environment for students.
Bullying is defined as distressing, harmful behavior, often repeated, that can be physical, verbal, emotional, or involve racism and sexual misconduct. Indicators of bullying include unexplained injuries, changes in behavior, poor school performance, and self-destructive tendencies.
Objectives of the policy include ensuring students can learn in a safe environment, promoting respect for differences, fostering a caring community, and supporting the emotional well-being of students.
Strategies for combating bullying include awareness programs, counseling sessions, supporting all parties involved in bullying incidents, and early intervention to prevent future occurrences.
Reporting incidents of bullying is encouraged, with teachers and staff required to document and report them for proper investigation and resolution.
Responses to bullying involve counseling for both the victim and the bully, sanctions based on behavior, and ongoing monitoring to ensure safety. Parents of involved students are informed, and the BMT reviews disciplinary recommendations.
Support and interventions include professional counseling, parental engagement, and referrals to external specialists when necessary, all in line with the ADEK Student Mental Health Policy.
The BMT, consisting of key school personnel, reviews cases and makes final recommendations for actions such as suspension or dismissal, subject to approval by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
